Retreatment

Retreatments deal with the correction of previous deficiencies or errors. 
The goal is the same – to completely disinfect, clean and seal the canal system.  The main reasons for this treatment are:

• persistent or renewed bacterial colonization of the canal
• technical deficiencies during the initial treatment
• previously unseen or insufficiently instrumented canals

Retreatments may be performed to enhance the sometimes difficult and complex demands that are required of a root canal therapy.  Absolutely necessary for the success of retreatment is the use of strong magnification (e.g. surgical microscopes) and a specialist who has many years of experience.
